Featured Article: The Zackery Lystedt Law Goes National

Since the adoption of the Zackery Lystedt Law in Washington State, Richard H. Adler has continued to press forward urging other states to do the same. More and more states have looked to Mr. Adler’s work as they begin their own efforts to adopt this sensible mandate in their area. The Lystedt Law requires a youth athlete to be removed from competition following a concussion and only allowed to return after clearance by a licensed health care professional. Mr. Adler has been presenting the message of preventing preventable brain injuries in youth sports to many organizations around the country. For example, this past February Mr. Adler traveled to Indianapolis to present at a special “Summit on Youth Sports and Concussion” hosted by the largest sports medicine organization, the American College of Sports Medicine. His presentation was heard by leaders of the NFL, NCAA, USA Youth Soccer, USA Lacrosse, USA Football, and the medical and neurosurgery communities.
